Our compassionate approach helps nervous patients feel at home. We give each patient the time and information they need so they are as calm and as confident as possible. If you are a new patient, we encourage you to come in and have a chat. That way, you will get a feel for our approach and our commitment to helping our patients feel in control.
We have three highly qualified and experienced dental surgeons, one hygienist, a hynotherapist and an anaesthetist. We are supported by three dental nurses and two receptionists. The practice operates like a family where staff cares for each other and their patients. Our clinical staff are registered with the General Dental Council or General Medical Council and are committed to continuing professional development. Johan Hough [BSc.Eng. BSc Hon BChD 1985] Johan obtained his first 2 degrees in engineering many years ago in South Africa but only truly found his vocation when he returned to University to become a dentist.
After joining the practice in 1998 he became the principal in 2004, his daughter Helen joining the same year and fulfilling his dream that they should work in the same practice.
Johan is a family man who cares greatly about people and his greatest strength as a dentist is that his caring approach to patients is combined with the perfectionism of an engineer.

Helen Loubser [BChD 1998] From a young age, Helen was interested in following in her father Johan’s footsteps and training as a dentist. She qualified in South Africa and worked there for several years before moving to the UK.
She is now a partner in the practice and respected by her father for her clinical skills. She has undertaken two years postgraduate training in cosmetic dentistry at the prestigious Eastman Dental School.
She is one of only a few dentists to be accredited to offer "Lumineers", a revolutionary type of veneer which require minimal invasive preparation.

Ame Erwee [BChD 1991] Ame has been associated with Orpington Dental Care since 1999 and is a very valuable member of the team. She believes that only the best is good enough and delivers an excellent service to all her patients.
She enjoys providing her patients with a range of treatments, from general restorative to cosmetic improvements. Like Helen, she is one of only a few dentists to be accredited to offer "Lumineers", a revolutionary type of veneer which require minimal invasive preparation.

Andre von Backstrom [MB ChB Dip Sed] is a doctor and the anaesthetist who attends the practice to care for patients requiring sedation. He has been administering conscious sedation for 15 years and since 2000 has been providing a range of cosmetic treatments, including non-surgical treatments for wrinkle removal[Botox].
