We always focus first and foremost on your dental health. You would be surprised how many problems start in the mouth or jaw and how important your dental health is to your general well-being. Using an intra-oral camera and digital x-rays, we can show you what is going on inside your mouth and, if you need treatment, talk you through the different options.
We will also provide you with a treatment plan.
Did you know that it’s an established scientific fact that muscles used to smile release substances into your body that make you feel better? We can help you smile with confidence.
We provide a wide range of dental services at Orpington Dental Care – read about some of them here, first the preventive and restorative treatments to help keep your teeth strong and fit to last a lifetime and then cosmetic treatments to look after your smile and face. Prices can be found here.
Restorative treatments
Fillings – we offer a choice of filling materials, usually recommending a composite resin material because it is tooth coloured, making the repair to your tooth invisible.
Inlays and onlays – these are made to cover the surface of a tooth once it has had a filling. An inlay covers the central area while an onlay will cover the entire crown of the tooth. They can be made of tooth-coloured resin, porcelain or gold alloy and are cemented into position.
Crowns – these add strength to a tooth which is cracked or decayed. The crown, often known as a cap, is tailor-made so it to fits perfectly over the entire tooth.
Bridges – the traditional way to replace a missing tooth or teeth. One or more replacement teeth are attached to crowns. The crowns are fixed onto the teeth to either side of the space which is being filled. Patients can also choose a dental implant, where a crown is fitted into a post which is fixed into the jaw.
Dentures – These are a removable solution for missing teeth. There are three types of denture that we provide.
The initial type is made of acrylic and is used for full denture.
The other two types are both for partial dentures. Chrome cobalt dentures are made of metal and have clasps for better retention. Valpast dentures are metal free, invisible do not contain any chemicals and are hypo-allergenic.
The feature that makes this product so innovative is the fact that the partial denture is lightweight and allows the appliance to adapt to the constant movement and flexibility of your mouth. The preparation for this brace is very simple as your natural teeth do not need to be altered, and it is virtually invisible, blending in with the natural tissue in your mouth. The denture also carries a lifetime guarantee against breakage in normal use.

Root canal treatment – a skilled and precise procedure which involves removing the infected pulp from the centre of the tooth and replacing it with a synthetic material. Root canal treatments help the tooth stay in place but afterwards it is likely to require a crown to strengthen it.
Dental Implants - Dental implants are so natural-looking and feeling, you may forget you ever lost a tooth. An Implant is substitute for a natural root that is missing that is used to hold a replacement tooth or bridge in place. Initially the dentist inserts a titanium implant beneath the gum and into the bone and then an abutment is inserted which attatches the implant to a crown or bridge which is then attatched. Often the implant can be placed at the same time as removal of the tooth, on the same day.
If the tooth has been missing for a while or lacks bone density the bone surrounding the gap may need to be built up to support the tooth. An implant may last a lifetime.
Implants are priced from £2000
Preventive treatments
Hygiene services – delivered by our hygienist who is trained to provide educational and clinical care. Gum Disease [also known as Periodontitis] is preventable. Your hygienist will help you to acquire the necessary skills to maintain your oral health effectively. She can help you to identify where you have difficulty in removing plaque and then work with you to modify your tooth brushing technique to ensure effective cleaning. The hygienist can also give you advice on diet and help you to prevent or deal with bad breath. Plaque and some types of staining are removed using hand scalers or ultrasonic scalers. The hygienist may also apply fluoride directly to the teeth and fissure sealants, particularly on children's teeth, to help prevent tooth decay.
Treatment to stop snoring – if snoring is a problem, Johan can make an appliance to be worn at night. It looks a bit like a mouthguard and is made to fit over your teeth. The appliance helps bring the lower jaw forward, keeping the airway unblocked, reducing snoring.
Cosmetic treatments
6 months smile
6 months smile is a short term orthodontic solution where we use discreet tooth coloured wires, to gently straighten and align teeth in an average of 6 months.
If you have been put off by unsightly metal braces or wearing aligners everyday for a few years, this is a quick fix for crooked teeth where treatment takes for most people up to 6 months.

6 months smile braces use low force to move teeth comfortably, but focus on the cosmetic appearance of your teeth and not the position of your bite.
This treatment can be used aligning teeth, closing most spaces, even large ones, and levelling out crowded teeth,
We have a special this month where treatment would normally cost £2500, but will give a £500 discount till end of September.
Tooth-whitening – We provide a supervised power tooth bleaching procedure while you are in the chair so it all happens quickly and effectively. If you are having a course of treatment, we recommend you start with the whitening so any veneers or crowns can be matched to your new whiter shade.
Mini implants for dentures– if you want your denture to feel more stable in your mouth, a mini dental implant may be the solution for you. Implants are posts made of titanium, which are placed in the jaw to act as an anchor for the denture. To find out more, go to http://www.mymdistory.com or come in and talk to Johan.
Veneers - very thin pieces of specially-shaped porcelain or plastic that are bonded onto your teeth to straighten your smile or improve the shape of your teeth. They can be used to conceal teeth that are severely discoloured, chipped, pitted or misshapen or to close gaps.
Invisible Braces or Orthodontics
We now offer invisible braces. In order to ensure that our patients have full flexibility we are offering both Invisalign and Clear Step.
Both systems involve undertaking a full assessment of your teeth and then having a personalised plan formulated which provides virtually invisible braces. These are excellent at straightening overlapping, crooked or gappy teeth.
The clear brace will gently move the teeth from their present to desired position by being adjusted on a fortnightly basis.
Both systems are very comfortable to wear and will not impact on your speech. They allow full flexibility as they can be removed for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing and important dates and meetings.

Services for anxious patients We have available the services of a qualified medical doctor and anaesthetist to provide Intravenous Sedation for nervous patients. The drug used for sedation has three main effects: to promote a feeling of calm within the patient; to reduce patient awareness of treatment, to provide a powerful amnesia so that the patient remembers very little of the procedure. Whilst the effects are variable, most people enter a state that allows treatment to be performed without undue anxiety.
We also provide Relative Analgesia, sometimes known as Laughing Gas, and will sometimes combine it with Hypnosis to help patients to be more relaxed. We have excellent results with especially children and find that our children patients might even enjoy visiting the Dentist.
We provide a fully NHS service for all children up until the age of 16
Anti Wrinkle Treatment
Wrinkle removal - an option for patients who want to ageing lines removed by a qualified professional in a safe and sterilised setting. You would be surprised how many of our patients are asking for Botox.
BOTOX® is a simple, non-surgical, anti wrinkle treatment that can temporarily smooth lines for both men and women. One 10-minute treatment, a few tiny injections, and within days there's a noticeable improvement in those persistent frown lines.
The treatment is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those lines to form over time. It works by temporarily reducing the contractions of the muscles that cause persistent lines. Within days you should see an improvement that can last up to around 6 months.
What is BOTOX?
The treatment is a natural purified protein produced by the Clostridium Botulinum Bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause lines to form over time. It works by temporarily reducing the contractions of those muscles that can cause permanent lines to create a smoothed, rejuvenated appearance. When injected into a muscle, it temporarily blocks the chemical signals that make the muscle contract. Only minute quantities of BOTOX are injected and only the injected muscle will be affected.
What areas does it work on?
The treatment is used to treat facial lines caused primarily by facial muscles. An example of this is deep creases between the eyebrows, crows feet wrinkles and forehead lines. The appearance of these lines can be dramatically softened with the use of BOTOX.
How long does it take?
The anti-wrinkle treatment itself takes just a few minutes. You will see an improvement in the appearance of your skin within days and the results can last up to 3-5 months. In your consultation, your aesthetic practitioner will assess your muscle movement by asking you to frown or smile. This will determine the injection site to achieve the best results for you. BOTOX is then administered by several tiny injections which literally feel like a pin-prick. No anaesthetic is required and you can return to work or day to day activities immediately.
Is BOTOX Safe?
BOTOX has an excellent safety profile and has been actively used for over 10 years in tens of thousands of patients worldwide. It has US FDA and European approval (including France and Switzerland). Botox has now been licensed in the UK for the cosmetic treatment of Glabella lines. It is also now called VISTABEL. It is also used in a variety of therapeutic areas. e.g. it is one of the few treatments that can be given to treat children over 2 years of age to treat Cerebral Palsy - BOTOX helps them to walk!
When will I see results?
Usually on day 4, though it will take up to 14 days for the full results to be apparent.
How much will it cost
Botox prices start from £200 for one area, £250 for two areas and £360 for 3 areas. Payment plan patients will receive the usual discounts.
Treatment with botulinum sometimes takes more than one session to get the best results. The first treatment lays the foundation for the subsequent treatments, and future treatments allow for any adjustments to be made.
